Some non-profit corporations that solicit more than $25,000 in donations a year are required to register as a Charitable Organization with the RI Department of Business Regulation’s Securities and Charities Division.

This guide may help you determine if a non-profit is required to register as a Charitable Organization. This is an annual requirement. The fee to register is $90.

R.I. Gen. Laws § 5-53.3-3 lists certain entities exempted from the registration requirement.
