Dear Sir
I hereby submit
to you my application for the
Surgeoncy of the regiment of
colored men called for in your
state by the proclamation of
Governor Sprague
I am myself a colored man,
and therefore I think the better
fitted by nature to attend to
the medical wants of colored
men. Being also a graduate
in Medicine and Surgery of
Dartmouth College, I am of
course capable of performing
the necessary surgical duties
also. A reply is respectfully reques-
ted
