Enjoy free, guided tours of the State House Monday through Friday except holidays. The stops include the Rhode Island Charter Museum, which features the Royal Charter of 1663 and other historical documents and artifacts; the State Room, where Gilbert Stuart's famous portrait of George Washington hangs; and the Rotunda, where you can gaze upward at one of the world's largest, self-supported marble domes.

The State House Visitor Center, located on the first floor near the main entrance, offers a remarkable variety of Rhode Island themed gifts, photographs, books and novelties. Many of the items available for purchase are proudly made here in Rhode Island.
