Customer Identification Number (CID)/PIN

Existing Entities

Each entity of record is issued a unique Customer Identification Number (CID) and PIN. The CID and PIN is required to file documents electronically with our office. Prior to the start of the entity’s annual report filing period the registered agent of record is provided the CID and PIN number.

The CID and PIN numbers do not change; however, you can choose to change your PIN number. If you do not have a CID and PIN or have forgotten your CID and/or PIN, please contact us at corp_pin@sos.ri.gov.

New Entities

A CID/PIN# is not required to form a new entity. Once your entity has been recorded, a unique Customer Identification Number (CID) and PIN is generated. The CID and PIN will be required to file all future documents electronically with our office. Prior to the start of the entity’s annual report filing period the registered agent of record is provided the CID and PIN number.

The CID and PIN numbers do not change; however, you can choose to change your PIN number. If you would like to obtain your CID and PIN prior to the entity’s first annual report filing period, please contact us at corp_pin@sos.ri.gov.
