The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Section is the central filing office for certain financing statements, agricultural liens and other lien documents provided for in RA9. Filing with our office serves to perfect a security interest in named collateral and establishes priority in case of debtor default or bankruptcy. In addition to filing and maintaining financing statements, amendments and correction statements, the UCC Section provides information to the public on the filed records.

On July 1, 2013 new Uniform Commercial Code Article 9 Amendments (R.I. P.L. 2011 ch. 173 & 192) will become effective.  These amendments include new UCC filing forms.

For paper filers, our new forms will be published on July 1, 2013.  A thirty (30) day grace period will be given through July 31, 2013 for the acceptance of both the “old” and “new” UCC filing forms.

Effective August 1, 2013, only the NEW UCC filing forms will be accepted and all other forms will be rejected.
