Scope and Contents: The records of the commission include videotapes, hearing testimony and supporting documentation relative to hearings conducted by the House Committee to Study the Department of Environmental Management (DEM). The records include topics relative to the reported problems at the Hometown Properties/Dry Bridge Road Landfill in North Kingstown and the Palmer Avenue junkyard in Warren. Supporting documents include such records as copies of performance audits from the Office of the Auditor General relative to DEM; correspondence, memoranda and letters to the Chairman from those who had recent experiences in dealing with the agency; correspondence between Chairman Kennedy and the Director of DEM, Timothy R.E. Keeney; a small amount of color photographs used during testimony, copies of correspondence from DEM to citizens; and copies of DEM regulations relative to testimony.
