Rhode Island National Guard Mobilization for the Mexican Border, 1916, Published: December 1, 2013 | State Archives Catalog
This publication is not meant to replace or supersede any historical account of the Punitive Expedition or the “Picket Duty” along the Mexican border. Its basic function is to relay some basic information concerning the conflict and document all personnel mobilized. It can be of help to researchers, military historians, and genealogists.
All of this information is available in other texts (see Sources Cited). As we go into the future (now 97 years from the time of this conflict), the basic information is becoming very hard to acquire and research locally.
The views, opinions, and findings contained in this report are those of the author and should not be construed as an official Rhode Island National Guard position, policy, or decision, unless designated by other official documentation.
As necessary, facts were checked with other subject matter experts as appropriate.
Master Sergeant James A. Loffler is the Command Historian for the Rhode Island National Guard and the principal author of this report.
