Records Relating to Preston Collection photographs | State Archives Catalog
This collection was donated by Howard W. Preston to the State Library and subsequently transferred to the Archives Division. The Preston collection consists of images of buildings and environs of the state in the period of c. 1920-1936 covering a period when Howard Willis Preston was the first director of the State Bureau of Information as part of the Department of State. The images are attributed to various Rhode Island photographers as well as Preston as photographer in his capacity as director. Preston was the director from 1927 to 1932.
The collection is arranged alphabetically by city or town and alphabetically by street name therein and is primarily images of the City of Providence.
