Guide to the 1824 Gyles Copy of the Colony Records
The 1824 Gyles Copy of the Rhode Island Colony records consist of one volume of copies of the original colonial records. Subjects documented in the records include the rights and responsibilities of freemen in the Colony, land tenure, laws, court proceedings, relations between the colonists and the government of Great Britain, and relations between the government of the colony and Indian tribes. The second part of the Gyles record, the Appendix, includes copies of correspondence.
