Constitutional Convention, 1944
The 1944 convention was held for the limited purpose of amending the Rhode Island constitution to exempt members of the armed forces and merchant marines in active service from voting registrations requirements of detailed in article XX of the Rhode Island Constitution. Amendment approved by voters, March 14, 1944. Records consist of transcripts of convention proceedings, resolutions (8), official roll call of delegates and petition of members of Democratic Party to state legislature received April 28, 1942.
