Guide to Sites and Scenes of Rhode Island images
1909-1960, bulk: 1909-1924
This collection is comprised of 209 4x5 black and white glass and celluloid images of sites and scenes in Rhode Island including images of mill buildings and environs and other historical sites. Includes one 5x7 glass image of a Map of the Parker Reservation in Coventry (presently an Audubon Society of Rhode Island refuge) dated April 1930. Also includes 68 color picture postcards of scenic attractions around Rhode Island, 4 black and white photographs and 2 trade cards of Providence businesses from 1880.
Phys. Desc:

Dry collodian negatives

Negatives, cellulose nitrate

Picture postcards

Black-and-white photographs

Trade Cards

Note: Some celluloid images are brittle. Glass negatives exhibit some flaking of the image bearing material along the edges. Originally glass and celluloid negatives were housed together and arranged in one numerical sequence, however celluloid negatives were determined to be of cellulose nitrate material. Nitrate negatives were pulled from the sequence and housed in a separate box for separate storage.
