Name: Rhode Island. Commission on State Government Internships (1969 -)
Historical Note: The State Government Internship Program was created per 1969 Public Law Chapter 21 (An Act Providing for a State Government Internship Program and in Amendment of and in Addition to Title 42 of the General Laws Entitled "State Affairs and Government" and Creating a Commission on State Government Interns, and Making an Appropriation Therefor.) The commission consisted of nine (9) members. The duty of the commission was to cooperate with an academic advisory committee consisting of one member of each of the political science department of the colleges and universities of the state. The academic advisory committee was to select students from the colleges and universities in the state to serve as interns in state government agencies.
