The Northeastern Interstate Forest Fire Protection Commission of Rhode Island consists of 3 members who's duties include <span style="display: none;"> </span>, and with commissioners of the other northeast states, formulating and revising a regional forest fire plan or compact to serve as a common fire plan for that region. The commissioners are also to inquire and ascertain methods and practices for bringing about the prevention and control of forest fires and to render aid to other member states in the event of forest fires. Authority for the compact and commission is enumerated in RIGL 2-13-1 and was created pursuant to 1950 Public Law Chapters 2430 and 2440.
