The Department of Coordination and Finance was created pursuant to PL Chapter 660 (S 6A., approved February 7, 1939, An Act Defining the Administrative Functions of the State ('Administrative Act of 1939").
It's predecessor agency was the part of the Executive Department. See Budget Director and Comptroller (1935-1939)*
It's sucessor agency was the Department of Finance created pursuant to Public Law Chapter 1070 (An Act Changing the Title of the Department of Coordination and Finance to Department of Finance and the Title of Said Director of Said Department to Director of Finance and Amending Sections 2,4,60 to 69 of Chapter 660 of the Public Laws, 1939 Known as the "Administrative Act of 1939," as Amended.
*Created per Rhode Island Public Law Chapter 2188 (S 6., approved January 1, 1935) under the Executive Department (An Act to Reorganize and Consolidate into Eleven State Departments All Existing State Boards, Bureaus, Commissions and Administrative Agencies, Defining Their Powers and Duties and Providing for the Transfer of All Powers and Duties Conferred by Law Upon Existing Administrative Agencies of the State Government to Said Eleven State Departments) and Chapter 2250 (H 504., approved June 1, 1935) Administrative Code Act (An Act Relating to the Civil Administration of the State Government and Amending or Repealing Certain General and Public Laws).
