Scope and Contents: Lobbyist records were first required to be filed with the Office of the Secretary of State as a result of 1912 PL 847 An Act to Regulate Lobbying. This law required that the name of the agent was to be entered into the legislative docket(s) “known as the dockets of legislative counsel” and “docket of legislative agents” and were to be prepared and kept by the Secretary of State. Within 30 days of the final session, agents must file a complete and detailed statement promoting or opposing of legislation sworn before notary or justice of the peace. These records include name of employer, business address, name of agent, residence address, business address, occupation, date of employment, date of registration and subject of legislation engaged for.
