Scope and Contents: The Tax Assessor functions as part of the of the Finance Department. This office exercises power relative to the assessment of properties used to levy municipal taxes as well as maintaining records on these assessments. The Tax Assessor is an advisor to the Board of Tax Assessment Review, which considers appeals submitted to it by taxpayers wishing to appeal their assessments. The Assessor also supervises the activities relative to tax revaluation. This accession consists of 9 bound volumes (18 1/2" X 24 1/2") and two unbound volumes (18" X 24") of Tax Assessor Plat books for the City of Providence.
