State Almshouse, Death Burial Register and Discharge Cards, 1879, 1907-1918 | State Archives Catalog
This series consists of a death and burial register as well as a set of discharge cards.. The discharge cards cover 1879 only, provide the name of the inmate and the date of discharge, and are signed by the Agent of State Charities and Corrections. The death and burial register covers the years 1907 to 1918, when the Almshouse was renamed the State Infirmary, and records the name of the inmate and the manner in which the body was disposed (usually either "buried" or "delievered to a friend.")
Please note: A continuous series of death and burial records extending into the period when the State Almshouse was known as the State Infirmary may be found in the records of the State Infirmary. Click here to consult descriptions of these holdings.
