This series consists of three volumes in which are recorded the occurrences of deaths at the State Institutions. Each volume contains two separate sets of entries. The first volume covers 1875-1908 and its first set of entries records the death of individuals at the various State Institutions, the overwhelming majority of which took place at the State Almshouse. The information includes the date of death, the name of the individual, age, and the name of the institution (Almshouse, House of Corrections, and so on.) The second set of entries covers the same individuals and includes undertaker information.
The second volume contains the same kind of information, but for the period 1908-1916. A second set of entries beginning toward the back of the volume contains entries for the same individuals, but then also extends to 1927. The entries include the name, the date of death, and the name of the undertaker. All deaths after April 1917 are recorded as having taken place at the "S.I.", when the State Almshouse was renamed the State Infirmary.
A third volume covers the period 1909-1920 and is arranged in alphabetical order by name of individual. The large majority of entries record deaths, but also include entires indicating escapees and individuals who are returned to their original institutions, most often the House of Corrections.
