The Corporations Division is “responsible for examining, processing, and maintaining legal documents that affect the existence, structure or authority of for-profit corporations, non-profit corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships and producers’ and consumers’ cooperatives in Rhode Island.” This division also administers the Uniform Commercial Code program, the Notary Public Program, the Trademark/Service mark Program, and the First Stop Business Information Center. Games of chance must also be registered with the Corporations Division.
